Mitch Foresman is a Program and Research Intern at CREST. He is currently a master’s student at Arizona State University pursuing an M.S. in Sustainable Tourism. Mitch finished his undergraduate degree in 2018 studying Hospitality and Tourism Management at Purdue University. During his undergraduate degree, Mitch learned about all aspects of the hospitality industry and developed a keen interest in sustainable tourism. His interest in sustainable tourism led him to pursue his M.S. from Arizona State University.
After graduation, Mitch was accepted into the Hilton Manager Development Program in the food and beverage track. This program helped Mitch transition into a career in food and beverage within the hospitality industry. He holds both Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1 and a Cicerone Certified Beer Server Certifications. During his time in operations, Mitch created a food donation program with Hilton and the Chicago Bridge Project in 2019. Since the inception of this program, 2000 pounds of what would have been food waste was donated to surrounding communities. He hopes to bring his passion for sustainable management of food waste, while growing his knowledge in various aspects of sustainability, to his career.
Mitch is a contributing author of “All are Welcome: An Introduction to the Hospitality Industry,” an ongoing publication to introduce incoming college students to the hospitality industry. Mitch speaks on sustainable tourism, what that area of the industry entails, and his hopes for the evolution of sustainable tourism. Although Mitch’s professional experience stems from operations, he is deeply passionate and excited to be combining his passion for sustainability and tourism into a research role. Mitch looks forward to a transition in his career, welcoming various opportunities in the name of sustainability.
