Lauren is a Communications Intern at CREST. She graduated from Kansas State University with Degrees in both Mass Communications and Spanish, as well as a Certificate in Travel and Tourism Promotion.
During her undergraduate education, she studied abroad twice, in Alicante, Spain and Pamplona, Spain. After experiencing overtourism during her travels and in her hometown of Miami, Florida, she found her passion in the promotion of sustainable travel. She hopes to be part of efforts to make responsible travel more accessible for tourists, limiting the impact on livability and anticipating/limiting effects from climate change through destination management.
She shared her passion for studying abroad through her work with her college’s Education Abroad Program, promoting opportunities for students through social media and outreach events.
She is currently serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Women’s Empowerment in Sacramento, California, where she shares the organization’s mission of ending family homelessness through social media and communications.
She is excited to use her experience in social media and communications strategy to promote sustainable tourism and responsible travel with CREST.
