Project Intern for Fall/Winter 2011

We are looking for two individuals to work with CREST for Fall/Winter 2011. Applicants must be able to commit to at least 10 – 12 weeks of full-time work between November and February. Exact dates are flexible.

CREST is seeking an individual to assist with several ongoing and upcoming projects. Their responsibilities will include assisting the program director and coordinator in grant writing and editing, research and various administrative tasks. This is the perfect position for someone who is looking to expand their knowledge of responsible and sustainable tourism and the workings of a non-profit. In addition, there will also be an opportunity to learn how to fundraise and attract new projects. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual looking to utilize creative skills and gain experience working for a non-profit in the responsible tourism sector.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze research related to responsible tourism
  • Assist in various administrative tasks

Skills/Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, and able to work well with others
  • Creative, flexible, and organized
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Dreamweaver an asset
  • Knows how to navigate social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

Requirements
Previous academic and/or field experience with responsible/ecotourism is recommended, but definitely not required! These internships are open to graduate students and advanced undergraduates only. Recent graduates are also welcome. Individuals will be responsible for arranging their own housing in Washington, DC.

Graphic Design and Technology Support Intern

We are looking for one individual to work with CREST this Fall/Winter 2011. Applicants must be able to commit to at least 10 weeks of full-time work between November and February 2011. Exact dates are flexible.

Okay, so it's not exactly your typical graphic design internship, but you can offer your services to a great not-for-profit organization and explore unique career opportunities for your future. At CREST your creative skills will be appreciated and utilized. Your fresh views will be invaluable and as you gain experience. You will be contributing to multiple projects and your work will be published!

Your work will be mostly self-directed, in an office environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Basic desktop publishing/graphic design
  • Creating and editing external & internal communications, including newsletters and brochures
  • Formatting internal documents in MS Word
  • Prepare editorial layouts and artwork for export to web
  • Design of special ad campaigns.
  • Test and troubleshoot files provided by advertisers
  • Much more

Skills/Requirements:

  • Skilled in publishing software Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Creative, flexible, detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, and works well with others

Requirements
